The Gwenllian Court was built in the 19th century as a gentleman's country residence for the owner of Kidwelly Tinplate Works. These Works have recently been restored and are now a fascinating Industrial Museum located close to the hotel. In its original guise as a Victorian country mansion it was situated in fine grounds which became a favourite haunt of local Victorian society and played host to many elegant occasions. The hotels present title reflects its roots in local history by taking its name from Princess Gwenllian a local heroine whose bravery has passed into Welsh legend. Today the hotel although having undergone extensive changes still retains an inimitable style that can only come from such a distinct heritage. The bedrooms are all individual in their decoration which have been chosen to enhance the unique atmosphere of this hotel. All rooms have private facilities and are equipped with television and tea and coffee making facilities. With the fine grounds still very much a part of the Gwenllian Court they offer a peaceful haven to escape to when you want to wind down at the end of a busy day.
